Details of another Thames pageant have been announced - this one at Henley to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show.

Boaters are being encouraged to deck out their vessels with flowers to form a flotilla on the river on May 16th.

Details of the flotilla follow earlier plans for another further downstream at Runnymede to mark the 800th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta.

Henley event organiser Jane Macfarlane-Duckworth told the Henley Standard: "The flotilla will feature big boats, small boats and rubber rings. It's not about big gin palaces it is about anybody and everybody."

The event will form part of the Chelsea Fringe - festivals held in different parts of the country and the world to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show in May. Endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society, last year it featured over 250 community activities and events.

More details of the Thames event are to be announced later and will be reported here on River Thames News.
